Oh, those are the wireless card antenna leads. Does that laptop have a wireless card for it (dont see one installed).

If you popped that open, and tried to just fit the cables back in... they might have shorted a trace on one of the circuits exposed in that area. That may have caused some of the audio problems. I might suggest getting a sandwich baggie (cut off a corner, only need a bit of baggie), sticking the metal ends of the antenna leads into it, and then putting that back into the covered area.

If that doesnt fix the sound issues, you either shorted something, or hopefully its just a software issue.

That is just a foam pad to press down on a wireless card that gets installed into that area. Just use the plastic baggie with a little scotch tape. Just make sure you are taping the baggie to the wires, and not the ends with the little connectors. The stick stuff could gunk it up.

the sound works now, but that leves one problem, the fans are still not working :(, do you need any particular drives for the fans?

any ideas?, they worked before i installed the new harddrive.

    EDIT:

are the fans conected to any wires?, if so maybe they have become unatatched, if so can a normal person open up a laptop case or do you need some special skills/tools?

Usually fans only come on when they need is present for cooling. Is your laptop unusually got right now? Maybe the new drive is throwing off less heat than the old failing one, and there isn't as much heat present inside of the laptop anymore.

For your future reference, Mustard, your camera probably isn't crappy, but you just didn't set it in the close-up mode it needed. You can usually enable Macro Mode (which lets you take pix of close-up things) by enabling a setting or pushng a button labeled with an icon of a Tulip like this:

cpu started on 37 and hardrive on 32, but now the cpu is at 56c and hardrive 48, and no fans have started yet :S

    this seems weird.

EDIT: not sure if it is the cpu that is 56c, it says "ACPI"

CPU is pretty normal to get that high. If you see it in the 60-70C range w/o fan turning on you have some problems. HD can't really be cooled by the cpu fan, so that is kinda off on its own.
