Hello all,
I recently got my T60p, 8744-C9U with xpPro. In the last day or so, it happened twice that the wireless connection dies if i disconnect the ac power. It is not consistent, so i sometimes disconnect the ac power and the wireless connection stays good. I noticed though that upon each ac power connect/disconnect i get the taskbar notification of the wireless network(that it is found). This suggests to me that there is some mode switching upon ac power mode change. There was an earlier post that suggested disabling the "power save mode" of the wireless network adapter in the device manager. I did that. It was also suggested to "uncheck" the "Enable automatic wireless LAN radio control" in the access connections, and I did that too. The problem still occurred when i unplugged the ac power. I had the bluetooth connection on this time as well. I logged off and on again, and it didn't help. I had to restart to get the wireless connection back. The radio seems to be on(the LED is lit) I tried physically switching it off and on again from the front switch, but it made no effect. I still had to reboot.
Now, is the problem originating from the Thinkvantage access connections? Should I uninstall that? I recall i had some problems in the past with my R50e and that i did remove Access Connections. I have Network Magic, and on my R50e it seems to be working fine. I can't use it on my T60p as Thinkvantage is already handling the wireless adapter.
Does anybody know any fix for this problem? Help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ahmed

Guys, please help.
Here is some more info. I updated the thinkvantage access connections. Same thing happened. I uninstalled thinkvantage access connections, and first went with network magic. I plugged and unplugged the ac power, and things seemed fine. I now make a bluetooth file transfer, and while the transefer is happening, i unplug the power. Immediately, i lose wireless connection.
I then uninstall network magic, and go with the windows XP default one. Things again run fine for some time, with some plugging and unplugging of the power adapter. Now, i do the bluetooth thing again, and while the transfer is going, i disconnect ac power to see if it repeats the same problem. It does. Same thing happens and i lose wireless connection. I switch the radios off and on again, but nothing happens. Also, the wireless icon in the taskbar shows no available wireless networks(though i am sitting right by the router)
PLEASE help if you can. I need to know if the card is potentially defective so that i can send the machine back and get another before i travel outside the US.
Thanks

Disable power management for the wireless card.
You'll be OK.

Go to Device Manager, Select Network Adapters/Wireless card, Advanced tab and set Poser save mode off.

Peter, thanks for your reply. Actually, i had tried that already. What *seems* to have fixed the problem is the driver update. I checked the lenovo website and it listed a more recent driver than the one i had, so i updated that. It's less than a day since i did that, so it is too early to say that i all is good. The couple of actions that would trigger the disconnection before donot do it anymore, so that is a good sign. I will try it for a few days, and if all looks ok, i will install access connections again. I will post another reply to confirm that the driver update fixed the problem.

I had a problem with regularly losing wireless internet connection using Vista on a t60P. I seemed to have fixed the problem downloading the following drivers and updates. Check out the updates even if you use the thinkvantage update system. For reasons I don't pretend to understand, the update system propogated some, but not all, of these updates.

I have been having the exact same problem with the exact same laptop since I got it around February. IBM techs came out and replaced my wireless card and today, the motherboard and power inlet. STILL nothing. I still have the same problems. I have tried everything that you have tried including the updating of the driver. Did you get your problem solved? Somebody -PLEASE help me. I don't have time for this problem anymore.
