since ultrabase has a vga and x200t have vga as well, does that mean i can connect to external monitors simultaneously?

If you mean dual external monitors, no, you cannot, because the GPU does not support it. The only ways you can run a dual screen setup off your Thinkpad is to either get the Thinkpad dock that came with an internal slim GPU (quite old GPU, and also costly), or use a USB to video out adapter (downside of this is USB's limited bandwidth, so video playback may not work well).

But... jonlumpkin, where are you? you said " use 1 or 2 external monitor with the tablet" in http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/showthread.php?t=23687 , i am pretty sure you meant simultaneously? i hope you have a ultrabase now, can you confirm if this is possible for me please. i dont want to throw 300 dollars on a ultrabase to find that it's not possible to run dual external monitors.

This is only half true. You CAN run any two displays simultaneously. For example, you could run two external monitors (one VGA, one DisplayPort [with VGA or DVI adapter as appropriate] from the ultrabase); however, you must disable the ThinkPad's LCD for this to work. If you want the main LCD and two externals you will need an additional video device (e.g. USB video out adapter or a ViDock).

Correct I have done what jon mentioned before too. Now I just have a single monitor via displayport->dvi adapter.

just curious, since you only using one external monitor, why do you use displayport>dvi via adaptor instead just using vga?

and display port to dvi, vga or hdmi, which adapter should i get for best display?

Displayport is quirky on my HP monitor, but I still want to use the digital connection so I use DP to DVI. I could just use VGA and I have. But really at one point I had 2 monitors going so I needed the adapter of some sort anyways.

Digital is probably the best as VGA quality depends on the monitor input too.

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70299.html

Video capabilities for attaching up to two external monitors:

-> DisplayPort monitor port supporting 2560 x 1600 maximum resolution.
-> VGA analog port supporting 2048 x 1536 maximum resoution.

This is officially supported through the ultrabase, as reported by Lenovo.

I don't have the ultrabase. I generally use my x200 Tablet by itself or connected to a projector/television for presentations and media playback. I know that several other persons have successfully pulled off dual 24" monitors though.

However, my desktop does have three monitors (running off dual Nvidia 7600GT GPUs [would support a fourth monitor or my projector if desired]).
