What is the difference between wxga vs wxga + on the r61 14inch?

    lenovo website states:

    WXGA: Widescreen XGA
    Resolution: 1280x720,1280×800, 1440×900, 1280x768

WXGA+: Widescreen Extended Graphics Array Plus
    Resolution: 1440x900

    thanks again!

    wxga is 1280×800

    and wxga+ is 1440×900

with wxga+ there will be more screen space (everything will be smaller)

BTW, the Lenovo site is wrong. As jcovelli already pointed out, WXGA is 1280x800, whereas the Lenovo site says that it's 1440x900.

The product section of the lenovo site seems like a mess to me. I was trying to find battery information on it and it is like a maze. It's almost like they are trying to make it hard to buy things from them .

I'd definitely recommend upgrading to WXGA+

more screen space, and text is easily readable, also using it on a 14" as well :)

Also, the screen is brighter, and the nit rating (brightness) is higher for the WXGA+ screen.

I remember reading from somewhere that the difference is the resolution, not the brightness.

Personally, except for more spaces, I see higher resolution on a 14" bad for reading.

A quick Google search shows many sites saying that the 14.1" WXGA is 185 nits while the WXGA+ is 200 nits.

I just got my WXGA+ screen and I'm glad I did, the extra vertical realistate really makes a difference. A little background, I switched from an OSX WXGA screen and the WXGA+ screen allowed me to not loose the extra vertical space that I would have forfeited from the excellent OSX menu management.

This is a thread about THINKPAD (Lenovo) WXGA vs WXGA+ screens, not Apple products, unless you happen to be running OS X on a Thinkpad???
