    Hello,
So I did a fresh install of windows 7 and installed all the drivers I could find and even did the lenovo driver update software.

Somehow when I go to lenovos fingerprint it says "cannot enroll user"

I know its enabled in bios and I already tried reinstalling and uninstalling it.
Oh also when I go to device drivers - there's a driver that is missing under USB. But somehow lenovo doesnt see that when I run the software. (I also downloaded and installed all the drivers under support too)

Anyone else have this problem too?

Spoke with tech support - the drivers were on the partitioned hdd which I wiped away. Guy said the driver for the fingerprint reader isnt available online.
(Makes no sense to me that this driver isnt online)

Instead of this does anyone have an x1c who can send me the fingerprint driver from their partioned hdd?

Nonsense, you can download the fingerprint driver directly from Lenovo yourself.

    Go here
Click the arrow next to Fingerprint reader to expand the choice of drivers

    Select g1f912ww_64.exe for Win7 x64 (Sep 20, 2012)

You can also view g1f912ww.txt to confirm that this driver is intended for the X1 Carbon

Did you reformat the drive using UEFI? I don't think it's compatible with the fingerprint reader.

Pretty sure I installed it using legacy - but cant remember the boot sequence.
Crud I think this maybe the issue.

Is there a way to tell if windows was installed in UEFI or not?

Have you checked online recently? I think I saw it a few days ago.

You can use the drivers from the original X1 in the meantime. Worked when I did my first wipe on the X1c

    Weird something is definately wrong.

For about 2 mins the device was set correctly by windows 7 than all of a sudden it went from a bio device to unknown again.

I think I have a faulty reader. Calling tech support on Monday.

Called Tech support today. Was given the okay to open up the unit (they were pretty good they said if I see a loose cable just to tighten it)

So I tightened the fingertouch pad again and now it works.

Windows 7 recognizes it correctly now instead of seeing it as unknown.
No idea what was really wrong. There wasnt a loose cable or anything but maybe I set it straight by tightening the screws again?

    Anyways case closed.
