Hi I recently got a y560 for school. And even though I love it and the performance it offers I've gotten tired of carrying a 15inch to school, and the screen feels a little too flimsy to me.
I was thinking of getting a x100e as a computer to bring to classes and around school due to its smaller size and sturdier design.
I would like to know a couple things about the x100 before I make any decision.

    1. What is the actual battery life using wifi and doing simple tasks.
    2. Does it get very hot? I want to be able to have it in my lap
    3. Are there any other 11inch ultraportables that I might want to consider with similar design standards and maybe an intel chip.

    i wouldn't get the X100e if i was you. Try a second hand X60s or X61s.

The X100e do overheat quite a bit if you through anything CPU or GPU app at it. I wouldn't use it as a laptop, unless you have some sort of insulating material between the base of laptop and your thigh.

There are plenty of netbooks around, it really depends on how much you want to spend. Vaio Z series is a 11 inch laptop.

Given this assessment of the X100, lead_org, is the X100 a good seller at all in the market? Surely there are better options - like the Viao you referred to or perhaps something from MSI or other suchlike outfit?

I am not sure about the sales statistics of X100e, at least in Australia the X100e is priced noncompetitively in relation to a Netbook.

I haven't seen many people using the X100e. Since most people would research this sort new product, and given the price of these machines and the retail format used (online store), consumers are less likely to make impulsive purchase.

Personally i don't really understand why Lenovo offer this product under the X series name, clearly it is just a Netbook product.

ASUS netbook is pretty good, so is the Acer netbook (the only thing that Acer) in terms of price and feature.

I agree. They should have left the ThinkPads out of the netbook category and let the Lenovo brand deal with it. Personally, I think the TP product cluster should be spread between the X, T and W Series. The Edge could possibly be a one-off, while I have no idea as to the role that the L Series plays - maybe a 'poor person's' ThinkPad?

I like the X100e, but AMD blows in the notebook market. If they could just come out with a machine that doesn't run so hot, they'd be onto something. The users in this segment probably don't need much performance. The X100e with the CULV is a winner, but could they sell it for the same price? It seems unlikely.

I like the x100e in form factor and it is okay as far as the actual build of the product goes. However, I am in agreeance regarding the CPU/heat.

I saw them once in the outlet for less than $300... for that price I wouldn't mind one just to play around with as a spare internet device. But if it isn't just a toy go for an older ultraportable thinkpad or just get a netbook you can try in the store that you like considering there is such a huge selection of them.
