    Hi all,

I just bought an x120e. I'm not very knowledgeable in computers, so I'm hoping you might be able to help me.

I've had my x120e three days now. The computer freezes roughly 3-5 times an hour. For about 30 seconds, and then unfreezes.

    I've installed very little. Just:
    • Microsoft Office 2007
    • Firefox
    • CCleaner

Is this something that has been commonly reported with the x120e or Windows 7? (I have Windows 7 Home Premium). This wouldn't be considered normal behaviour, would it??

I love this little computer otherwise.

I wonder how much ram do you have on your little device. I notice freezing on firefox portable when it is using alot of ram. I am planning to add another 2gb or 4gb ram and turn off the page file, I am pretty sure that will solve my problem.

Is there any audible HDD noise during the freeze? Does the cursor move?

I have 2 GB of RAM. I just ordered another 2 GB from Lenovo for $40 bucks (I searched this forum for instructions on getting the right one for this computer). I figure it can't hurt and might help.

It freezes no matter what I'm doing, not only on the web.

No noise, but yes, the cursor can still move! Does that narrow down the possibilities?

I'd try checking under Event Viewer for anything that seems related to the freezing.

Also fire up the ThinkVantage Toolbox and run the hardware diagnostics. Something amiss with the hard drive seems like a good candidate.

If you haven't already, run memtest86+ and let it complete a couple passes. That'll rule out RAM issues.
