I just received an x200 tablet with a multitouch screen. The viewing angle problems are so bad that I'm not sure it is useable as a tablet. Multi-t does work (two finger works in paint). Part numbers from original order:

    13N7255 13N7271 FRU 12WXGA LED W/MULTI-TOUCH GLASS DIGIT YES
    42T0567 0000000 12.1 INCH LCD DISPLAY:FLAT PANEL DISPLAY NO

I need to fool with it more to see what is up, but does anyone have advice?

Are the viewing angles that bad? Or could I have a bad screen?

Is there more than one version of the Multitouch screen, where I might have a poor one?

Should I send it to Lenovo and try to get a fix?

    Any advice at all?

According to the Tabook there is both an S-PVA and S-IPS version of the EMT panel. I have only heard glowing things about the IPS version (of which I believe most EMT panels were), but there were complaints about the S-PVA resistive version for the x200T (my 285 nit S-PVA frameless x200T is exceptional though).

My part number for mine indicates that it should be the IPS.

Does anyone know how to tell if it really is the IPS?

Any update? I'm very interested in picking up an x200t with an IPS screen, as I thought it was the best.

it is the best... you are not going find a comparable better screen in a tablet laptop of the same generation.

I still count myself disappointed. Even the slightest dip in vertical viewing angle noticeably dims half the screen, and you find yourself trying to increase the angle to further dim the whole thing, or get it back directly on line.

That said, in practice you get a bit used to it. When it comes to reading on the thing, say at a desk, you can get used to that. Videos, even for two, it is a bit of a let down at first but then you forget and enjoy. Reading while reclined, for some reason, I find unpleasant on the eyes.

I should say that I haven't used other convertibles, so cannot compare those.

I will say that screeenwise the x200 is a million miles short of the ipad. Or more. I would never consider using the x200 for something that the ipad could do.
