i want to buy an x200 tablet, on the Lenovo Aus site (link above), the SuperBright Outdoor is cheaper than the non Outdoor version, at only $Au55 extra, but under the non Outdoor version there is a note saying This Outdoor panel offers the brightest-in-class picture and the lowest-in-class reflectivity giving an excellent outdoor viewing experience. ? did lenovo stuff their site or what?

i compare the price with the american site, it is $75 for superbright non outdoor and $250 for the outdoor, with on the Australian site it is 89 for the non outdoor and 55 for the outdoor.

why there is a such big price difference? and price seems to be allocated wrongly too
i am confused here, i want the outdoor version btw.

First, please observe the 24 hour rule about bumping posts.

Second, check the tabook for detailed specs about the screens.

I believe there is a slight misprint on the Australian site. The first ($55 panel) is the older "SuperBright" panel. This is what I have. It's rated at 285 nits, has a frameless border, is Samsung S-PVA, very high quality, bright enough for any indoor environment and generally usable outside in most cases.

The second panel ($89) is the newer Outdoor panel. It is detailed in this review. It's rated at 400 nits, has a standard bezel, is Samsung S-PVA, can be excessively bright, and should be even better outdoors (you'll need to dial it way down inside though). It also claims to have extra anti-reflectivity layers for whatever that's worth.

Based on the price spread in Australia I'd probably consider the 400 nit panel if you intend to use your tablet outdoors at all. Some of the review have mentioned an increase tendency to pick up fingerprints, but these usually clean off pretty well. However, I have not seen this panel in person and can only compare the reviews to my experience with the 285 nit panel.

The excessive fingerprints aren't really noticable til you go outside, IMO.

if the $89 is the 400 nit screen, then why isn't it called the outdoor viewable? why is the $55 285nit call the outdoor viewable?

it must be a typo, because i must have the 400 nit since it's summer here in Australia and it's bloody sunny down here.

ok, i see, but it is still confusing, the fact that the older 285 nit is more expensive than the 400 nit in the non employee sale, is weird. and i checked the tabook, it does not have 7448.

my question, how do i know that i am getting the 400 nit when i order from lenovo? Already i am distrusting them since they screwed up the online order form.

Anything you order online as a configure to order will be 7448-CTO (this is naturally not in the Tabook, as it only lists preconfigured).

The one that mentions anti-reflectivity layers is the newer 400 nit display. The Tabook will confirm this.
