    Hi everyone,

I just splurged and got the x200s with the 15% discount before it expires today. I originally thought about getting the Sony z690 or the TT; but those two are too expensive and their battery life is not as good as my turtle-speed Asus Eee 1000H, which runs all day long (8+ hours!) on an extended battery.

I originally thought the x200s to be very ugly when compared to the Sony Z or my HP DV4T, but from looking at the pictures, it is starting to grow on me. The DV4T is a little bit too big for me although I love the design. The x200s is a compromise between the resolution I want 1600x900 and the DV4T's 1280x800 resolution. I was stalling also because the x200s has no touchpad; but the resolution also pushed me over.

I ordered the system with 1GB memory since the 4GB memory is too expensive as a $150 upgrade. I plan to buy 2 x 2GB DDR3 PC3-8500 1066 sodimms from Newegg.com for around $60 as the upgrade.

    Here's the search from newegg:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&Description=4GB+sodimm+PC3-8500+DDR3&x=0&y=0

Would any of the 2 x 2GB modules listed there work with the Lenovo? I ask because I see specific for "Lenovo" only modules. I want to make sure before I order.

Also, I got the Vista Home Basics OS, which I think is installed as 32 bit. Since I plan to upgrade to 4GB ram, I was wondering if I can reinstall Vista Home Basic as 64 bit? Lenovo site does not have 64 bit version of any of the OS except for Vista Business 64, which i don't need. Are there instructions on how to do this?

    Thanks!

Yes, from what I can see, any of those modules would work.

To install a 64-bit version of Home Basic, you'll need the 64-bit installer disk.

Thank you. I think my brother has a 64 bit version of Vista. Can those disk install any version of Vista? I reinstalled Vista for my DV4T, but I don't recall any version below Home Premium. It probably exists, except that I don't recalled seeing it as I don't need it.

    Thanks!

I think you need to get the same version in OEM/retail. If it is a restore CD from another computer then most likely won't work either.

I'm pretty sure all Vista install discs have every version of Vista on them. If you enter the key during installation, however, it will only show the version that the key is licensed to install.

Thank you for the replies. I guessed I will find out if I have problems with drivers when I get the system roughly 15-20 days from now. Estimate ship date is the 23rd of April and I chose free ground shipping. Now for the long wait.

    Cheers,

    It's not that bad.
