    hello folks.
I am in the market for an x200s and I noticed that there are some that don't have the WXGA+ LED screen but the CCFL WXGA one.
I actually think I prefer the WXGA on such a small screen but I am worried about weight, size, and battery life compared to an x200s with the LED screen.

There are some older threads but there isn't really a definitive answer.
I am buying the x200s because it is smaller and lighter than the x200 but if some of the advantage is lost with the CCFL screen then I should avoid this model.

Any suggestions, real data or someone who owns one can chip in?

    thanks a lot.

if you are getting the X200s with the WXGA LCD it weighs about the same X200s with WXGA+. When you are talking about size, are talking about the size of the fonts? or size dimensionally? Battery life is about 30 minutes difference with a 9 cell last time i tested it.

The weight difference between the X200 and X200s is not all that much, i think it was around 150 g. As such if you are getting the WXGA you might as go with the X200 which has a more powerful CPU, and they tend to cost a little less.

Also parts for x200 are going to be easier to find. x200s are significantly harder to source for parts on Ebay. In general any ThinkPad with s in the model name are going to be hard to find.

Unless you're on a really tight budget, I'd wait for some good coupons and get the X220 or X220i if you don't mind the i3, which you shouldn't. I paid a little over $700 for mine. You get an IPS LCD from with factory with warranty. It's slightly heavier than the X200s, but a better machine in my opinion. To answer your question the X200s came with both CFFL and LED WXGA LCDs from the factory, and a LED WXGA+.

you guys all have a point but my budget is much lower than $700. I want to spend $450 top, and I found x200 and some x200s in my price range with some nice specs.

lead_org, I was referring to the actual dimensions of the laptop. The x200s seems significantly smaller and lighter compared to the x200. Is there a way to know if it has the WXGA LCD or CFFL?

I was more concerned in the case of CFFL vs LCD and the differences between the two.

The CFFL is good cause then you can do the AFFS mod without swapping any other parts.

I am still unclear how the screen type changes weight and laptop thickness.
So if I get this right the WXGA screen on a X200s can be either a LED or a CFFL?
