I picked up a used x200T so "yea" me I finally got another x200T. However this one doesn't have a fingerprint reader. It does have the cutout for it so what would it take for me to add it? Is it just a matter of finding the cables etc?

Also anyway the X220 Keyboard fit the X200t ? When I first got my x220 I didn't think I would like that KB but after a month of having it I'm addicted to it vs the ones in my x200T,x300,and x61.

    thanks guys

No, you cannot add a FPR. I think it has been covered in past threads.

No, the keyboard is not interchangeable with the previous models. It has been lengthened due to the new 16:9 format.

Ya I just not seeing that as not possible. I'm sorry I have goggled it and everything I have read seems to go the other way hence the reason I came here to ask. I can't see Lenovo making different MB just to remove the connector for the FPR. Seems to me its only lacking the wiring with the sensor itself. The KB I think you may be right but its the same KB used on the T410 which isn't 16.9 but 16:10 so its not a depth issue. I might take them apart just to see.

The fingerprint reader should integrate with the motherboard in order to be usable to turn the system on, etc. It's a part of hardware more than software. For this reason, yes, you need an entirely new motherboard in order to install the fingerprint reader. Or you need to do significant work on the existing one.

Technically, you could get all the parts you need, but realistically - it can't be easily done.

Since you've googled it, you must have seen how everyone said that it wasn't possible. If it was easily possible, that surely would have shown up on a search, no? :p

I wasn't talking about depth, I was talking along the X-axis. The T410 is bigger than the X220, so the 16:9/16:10 ratio doesn't affect the keyboard. Take the X41 for example. The 12" screen with 4:3 ratio doesn't allow a full sized keyboard. 16:10 does in the X200. With the new 16:9, the x220 adds a slightly bigger keyboard. Plus, I believe that the trackpoint buttons have been enlarged as well. So it definitely won't fit in the X200.

You can try it by all means though.

from my googled results didn't show that. It was actually the other way around. Like I said I can't see Lenovo making different MB's just remove the FPR connector that makes no sense and would add a fare amount of expense for nothing more than what a FPR. I just don't see it. Guess we will see.

As far as the KB ya your more than likely right.
