Got a couple questions before replacing the HDD with an Intel 80 GB X25M in my x201.

Firstly, will i need a special adaptor in order to install the SSD, or can i just go ahead and replace it ?

And secondly, whats the best software/way to migrate from the HDD to SSD ? I do not have an external DVD burner or the ultrabay yet, so i can not create a Windows 7 64bit recovery disk CD/DVD to use.
In the past, i've used various programs (like acronis, etc) to copy the HDD disk image to an external HDD, and would prefer such a solution (so as to avoid re-installing every program i need again). Any suggestions for which program to use for a painless transition please ?

The X25-M is a standard notebook drive. You don't need any special adapter.

True Image seems like a good candidate.

    Thank you.

Just installed the SSD, and the x201 is *completely* silent now !!! It's a dream come true!!! (the default Seagate 7200rpm HDD was toooooo noisy)

And of course, it's much faster now :)

Acronis True Image did the work seamlessly. Took 15 minutes to create a perfect working copy.

Would you spend $100 more on 7200rpm HDD, or would you take 5400rmp and buy SSD for X201?

SSD is far superior, regarding speed & noise levels (and probably battery life as well).

The only limitation is its capacity. If you can live with it, there's no question about it, definitely get a SSD!
