    Hi!

I am interested in buying thinkpad x201, but I've checked Lenovo website and there is this new x220. Is it still possible to find a bargain x201? Maybe lenovo outlet? I have seen they had great deals last year,....

    Thank you,
    Matej

Maybe you can try calling up Lenovo, but likely new ones are going to be on resellers website and there is still a huge price premium for the x201 over the x220.

You could probably buy a new via eBay or google, but I don't think it'll be any less than a X220(i) unless you want to go used. I paid $750 shipped for my X200i. I don't see getting a X201 new for less than that. You just need to wait for coupons.

Check the Lenovo outlet store. I've seen it there a couple times, but it was much more expensive than the x220.

Just to avoid confusion, I think you meant to say X220i, yes?

Thank you for your all of your answers!

I hope I will find something. Problem is that here in Europe, these machines are veeeeery expensive. It is still better for me to buy one in USA + shipping + 20 % tax. So the best thing is to "catch" nice x201 on ebay or maybe craigslist... :)

X201 are expensive machine relative to the X220 machine.

Is there are a particular reason why you want a X201 over say X220?

Not really... I wouldn't mind X220. But usually "older" computers are cheaper then newer. I've just checked ebay, and I can see that prices are similar... Strange world. :)

Well, if you are in India, you can still buy the X201. In fact, that is the only X series machine you can buy. But as others have noted, it is expensive! See this link.

Only reason I can see buying an x201 is 16:10 and x201s offering 1440x900. But even then 1280x800 on an x201 is already low resolution, going to 1368x768 on x220 wouldn't be a significant loss and you get Sandy Bridge + IPS screen.

hum, the starting price of the X220 are quite competitive against second hand X201. I think it would be wiser for you to get the X220.

i got my X201 for 409gbp (650USD), i didnt have to pay tax because i got it shipped to my address in malaysia and computers are tax free there. it was listed as second hand, but it was in mint condition and didnt look like it had ever been used, even the battery had only 2 cycles on it.

it was 6 months old and still had 2.5 years left of warranty. so i think i got a pretty decent deal. a X220 with upgraded specs comparable and with 3 year warranty would have been just over 1,000 usd including discount coupon.

if you dont need extra power, you might want to consider the X120e, i was originally planning to buy that one until i found this X201 on ebay for pretty much the same price
