Has anyone tried the Intel WIDI on a thinkpad? It appears that the specs for WIDI are met in a few of our X201's we have.

    System Component Requirement
    Processor ONE of the following:
    Intel® Core™ i7: 640M; 660LM; 640LM; 620M; 640LM; 690UM; 680UM; 660UM; 640UM; 620UM; 2820QM; 2720QM; 2620M; 2540M; 2520M; 2640LM; 2620LM; 2630UM; 2610UM; 2530UM
    Intel® Core™ i5: 580M; 560M; 540M; 520M; 450M; 430M; 580UM; 560UM; 540UM; 520UM
    Intel® Core™ i3: 370M; 350M; 330M
    Graphics Intel® HD Graphics
    Wireless ONE of the following:
    Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000
    Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6200, 6205, 6230, or 1030
    Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 or 6150
    Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300
Software Intel® My WiFi Technology (Intel® MWT) π2 and Intel Wireless Display π1 must be pre-installed and enabled
OS Windows* 7 64-bit, Home Premium, Ultimate or Professional
Windows* 32-bit, Home Premium, Ultimate, Professional or Basic

Support for the Intel Wireless Display

The 480M is the only x201 we have that appears not supported. All our others make the list 640M, 560M,540M, 520M, 370M

I now have the software installed and setup to search for a WIDI receiver through the intell 6200 on a 540M. But, we don't have a local WIDI monitor to try it out on. Don't want to show up somewhere for a presentation trying to use a WIDI montior and it not work.

Looks like it makes the search and finds no compatible adapters near by (because there is none)
Hate to go buy a WIDI adapter, just to try it.

After a quick conversation with our intel rep. It appears that the website is wrong. The 480M is supported.

The real requirements are one of the following MY WIFI Cards:
    Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000
    Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6200, 6205, 6230, or 1030
    Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 or 6150
    Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300

    Have: Intel® HD Graphics
Have: the correct software, drivers installed.

A i? Processor is not a real requirement, (Other none i? processors may require a registry hack)

If I get time, I might head over to staples to try out. It appears they have the push2TV (WIDI adapter) setup there to demo. Looks like a nice tool to add HDMI and wireless for presentations. Who needs an HDMI port :)

Look Look! I'm a guinea pig again! J/K

It's hard to believe that Lenovo has no information regarding the WIDI and standard x201. Found info on the x201i, but nothing for x201.

Ok, for those that may wonder if the WIDI 1.0 works on the standard x201. It does! Stopped off to staples and tried it out at lunch today.
I had no choice, since we have a salesman needing it for an upcoming presentation and it appears no one knows whether it works on the standard x201. Called Lenovo, and they didn't know.

We were able to watch a clip and do a dual display on a monitor using the netgear push2TV. Worked well enough that we bought one.

Wish Lenovo would disclose this in their forums or documentation or atleast let the tech support people know. It's a nice feature to know you have, especially since there is no HDMI on this business lappy. The screen for the upcoming presentation is quite new and we are forced to use hdmi or component ports. NO VGA :(

FYI: in order to make it work on Intel 6200, you must download the software and drivers that are located in the above post. Then REMOVE your current Intel 6200 drivers. I then rebooted and installed the drivers and software in the order as Intel stated (SKIPPING THE HD DRIVERS). All worked well from there. We tried to use the supplied Lenovo drivers that were on the lappy, which would not work. *Must download the drivers Intel provided from the above link.

    Good to know!
