Can someone tell me which type of battery i have? It doesnt extrude out of the back. On an x61 it would have been a 4 cell, as my 6 cell extruded. I ordered a 6 cell but my battery life is so pants that i must have the 4 cell??

Can anyone confirm the 6 cell extrudes out of the back of the x201?

The six-cell sticks out the bottom, not the back.

Thanks, im pretty sure i ordered the 6 cell so have contacted them. I wondered why i wasnt getting more than 4 hours. Considering i have an i7 i guess 4 hours on the 4 cell isnt too bad!!

According to all the specs (data sheet, tabook, etc) the 4-cell and the 6-cell are the same size. What's the part number? FYI - the tabook also says " up to" 3.4 hours for the 4-cell and " up to" 6.7 for the 6 cell.

The datasheet and tabook give the literal overall dimensions, so they show the same sizes because of the little rubber feet. If you pull up the battery part numbers, the 4 cell and the 6 cell are different dimensions. The 6 cell sticks out the bottom the same way the 9 cell does (but not out the back like the 9 cell does) and the 4 cell is flush with the bottom.

Overall, the 6-cell protrudes almost negligibly (~0.2-0.3 cm) towards the bottom, but not at all towards the back. Although in the photo it might look like it protrudes more to the bottom, it actually doesnt, if placed on a flat surface, cause of the side stands of the x201.

    Here's a photo of my x201 6-cell battery:

Oh. I could not find the dimensions of the actual batteries anywhere (at least not all of them) so didn't realize this.

It is easy to also check the power manager and look at the capacity of the battery in question.

    EDIT:

So why does my 6 cell x201 have a design capacity of 54.16 and my x61 6 cell have 74.88???

Because what you think is a 6 cell in your X61 is an 8 cell?

You should be able to get closer to 6 hours though, assuming non-intensive tasks. Just what things are you doing when on battery? My guess is you're either streaming video or you need to play with your power settings.

Try having one word document open, screen on full brightness and possibly one internet explorer window.

Does this sound like a 6 cell battery?

Does the guy with the x201 6 cell have the same design capacity as me?

Weird. When I was looking the X61 batteries it said that the 8 cell is 74wh. Did they even make a 6 cell for the non-tablet X60/61?

Screen on full brightness is your problem. That's like 2 hours right there.

This is so strange, on my x61 (non tablet) i can have the screen on full, no bluetooth, internet on and

    max processor = 4 hours
    min processor = 6-7 hours

My x61 battery extrudes out towards the back. i always always under the impression this was a 6 cell?

Nah, that's the 8 cell. See here Lenovo - Find accessories for your laptop and desktop - Batteries & Power

But try with your X201 just taking the screen down to 50%, it will still be plenty bright and the battery life difference will be significant. My X201's screen is actually too bright on full brightness, and I run it one notch down even when plugged in.

There is only 4 cells and 8 cells battery for the X6x series laptop there is no 6 cells as such.
