my spacebar isn't flush. the right side is ok but the left side sticks out.
is keyboard a self-serviceable part? can i get a new keyboard from lenovo and install it by myself?
x201/x201s users do you have the same problem?
-
Can you take some pics? i would like to see the problems. I ordered a X201 on 5/1/10 and shipped out 5/7/10. i should be getting it this week. Here is the link to lenovo service video

Go to notebook, click thinkpad then click X200. I believe the X200 and X201 use the same chasis design. -
here's the photo
contacted lenovo, a representative called me back 2 mins after i submitted the request (at 5am!), very good service!
they'll send me a keyboard.

this is definitely not normal.
-
I think mine does as well now that I focused on it. I did see this as well on mine before but it does not seem to stick out quite as much as yours does but non the less the left hand side of the space bar does seem to be a bit higher up than the right side
-
I recall my spacebar was sticking out as a whole which I opened the box...I just thought it was a design feature to help compensate for the extensive wear spacebars usually experience. After doing quite a bit of typing (I use my right thumb for spacebar), the right-side seems to be flush with my alt key, and the left side retains the original elevation from when I first got my notebook.
-
The left side of mine is slightly elevated and has been. I usually hit the right side of the space bar though. Doesn't seem to affect anything. OPs picture is a bit more extreme in elevation though.

I have the same issue, but not as pronounced
-
I as well, have always had the same issue with my T61 since new. Although not as bad.
-
Not saying it is, but it is possibly, possibly, by design. You can see the other keys are scalloped. -
my X200 keyboard doesn't stick out like that.
-
T400s/T410s owners with the new keyboard design, do you have this issue?
-
-
if it's a design, their representative won't agree to send me a new keyboard.
and if it's really a design, why lenovo talks nothing about it in any ads, any online campaigns or websites?
if it's really a design, i guess most people use right hand thumb to press spacebar, not left hand...
x201s spacebar sticks out on the left
