I am going to get a 120gb SSD .. I am wavering between C300, Corsair Nova (if it fits), or Force (if it fits), or the intel 320 series.

Basing my decision mostly off power consumption ... from this anandtech article, I should get a Force or Nova. But is 1 W that big of a difference? I just want to keep a good battery life,if not better then the current mechanical drive in it.

Anyone have experience with which SSD will provide better battery life?

When it comes to SSD's at that level you are splitting hairs over power savings.

I have two SSDs in my X220 gets great battery life both under load and at idle.

correct...looks very simple, and this way it will still be covered/sealed, and not open chips.

I think i'll get the intel 320, for reliability, and lower power consumption ... every watt counts in the x220 :). I also do not think my warranty will be voided if I pull the buffer out of it, like the c300 has a sticker that voids it when removed.

pretty much why I am also going towards it.

I have an agility 2 and a solid 2 in my server, and my desktop, work great .. but I am not power consumption crazy over desktops like I am this little guy.

I think my laptop will take 1-3 more weeks to arrive, so hopefully I can get in on a sale with a 320.

Well, I don't know about that. The Intel X25-M that came with my X220 two days ago failed after 5 hours of use. It was manufactured on 04/16/2011, I just can't believe it.

However, Lenovo sent me a new drive in less than 20 hours after I called them, which is really remarkable. I just hope intel really is reliable and my case is one in a million.

You are in the very rare 1.3% failure rate then, haha.

Not sure if it's a silly question but does the storage size of the drive have any impact on the power consumption? (more space = more power needed?).

Just wondering if it matters that these estimates are based on SSDs that most people will normally never be able to afford (300GB SSD? good luck!)

If you look at the tests, you'll notice some of the 300GB SSD's little borthers use less power.
