I've seen some impressive deals recently so I was a bit confused as to what "most" folks are paying these days
$997.97 shipped (free shipping, $78 tax), including the Memorialday coupon code
I signed up for that email newsletter and got a coupon code that wouldn't work with this deal.

1. There was a crazy sale like one or two weeks ago, which give you about 30% discount, a lot of people bought super loaded (i7, IPS, 9 cell) ones for around $850 at that time.
2. Use Master Card Discount(MC Marketplace) and you get free 4GB upgrade and lower price, with MC Discount, free upgrade, and Memorial Day coupon the same config cost around $890 before tax. Discover Card also offer 10% cashback right now, not sure if the 10% cashback can be combined with MC discount, but most likely yes.
3. The current Memorial Day deal sucks, and Lenovo just jacked up the price on X220 from 969 to 1019 I think.
4. If you have to buy a X220 and don't have access to these deals, check out eBay. Some i7 IPS 9 cell ones for around $1100 free shipping no tax. -
thanks for that info
figures I'd come in a bit too late to get the 30% discounts -
Getting the absolute best price is tough. You've got to be looking and at the right time. At some point it's going to sell for less. It's only a matter of when. About the best you can do is watch for a while so you'll know when it's relatively low. When it is, jump. You snooze, you lose. Coupons and discounts are random. Otherwise, trust me, people would recognize the pattern and buy only when discounts are offered.
If you're looking to save a few bucks, I'd suggest getting the i3 and/or 2GB, then adding another 2GB stick yourself. Most people would never notice the difference between the i3 and i5 or i7. My i3 offers performance aplenty. Putting in a stick of memory takes like 30 seconds and buying from an Internet retailer costs less. I picked up a used 1GB stick from ebay for $8. -
I got my X220 when they had a huge discount with promo codes. Got it for $880 with i7, 320gb 7200rpm HDD, 4GB memory (1 DIMM), Fingerprint Reader, Bluetooth, Web Cam, Intel 6205 Wireless, IPS display, and 9 cell battery. Just keep waiting and I'm sure it will come up again.
x220 - am I missing a deal or something?
