Hello everyone, I purchased a new 90w OEM adapter off a seller on ebay, but was sent a 65w one.

The model number on the adapter is 45N0315 and its output is 20v 3.25a

I can't find much on this adapter and doesn't seem to get for the x220.

Can anybody check what the oew x220 65w power adapter outputs?

    Thank you

Actually, a 65W power adapter is what Lenovo shipped X220 with so if yours is not working then it's clearly defective.

I am aware of that, they had 65 and 90w.

I got my laptop with a 90w so I wasn't concerned about the CPU throttling.

Now I got this 65watt and I'm wondering what the specs are on the factory 65w x230 adapters so I can compare it to this one that I got.

Are the OEM ones 20v, 3.25amp or more?

I'm looking at the 65W adapter I got with my X220, and it says 20V 3.25A. Model number is 45N0121.

I do experience throttling in some situations where the 90W adapter does not. (AFAIK it's only when I don't have a battery inserted, but I could be wrong.)

My T420s w/ integrated graphics came with a 65W adapter, 20V 3.25A, FRU 45T5282. You should be fine with that one. I've had some throttling when gaming (because of the high temperature) until I started to use tpfancontrol and let the fan blow at full speed. I keep the battery inserted.

Thank you both for the replies.

As long as the power is the same on mine and the original that came with the unit then I'm happy. I don't game much but will be using this laptop for networking/some virtualization so I don't think the CPU throttling will affect me much.
