What kind of boot times are you guys getting with your x220? I am getting a boot time of like 1:20 which seems excessively long. This is with an i5-2410, 8gb of ram, and a 250gb 5400rpm hd. This is with the base software that comes preloaded, but I did remove the Thinkvantage PcDoctor software. It seems to take quite a bit of time (20 seconds or so) from when windows first boots and until the disc activity animation goes away.

1m:20s is a bit long but this is probably down to the setup of the factory image and most critically the 5400RPM drive. My 3 year old R61e only has a Core 2 Duo and 4GB RAM but due to the 7200RPM (Momentus XT) hard drive it was able to boot around 40 seconds from the moment you push the power button (or 30-32 secs according to Boot Timer).

You could try adjusting the Startup via MSConfig and disable some unneeded services to see if it improve things but if you're really concerned about the boot times then I would consider having a 7200RPM drive as a bare minimum (or even better a SSD).

32 seconds from button to desktop on 7200 drive with i5 2520.

22 seconds from button to desktop on Intel 310 with i5 2520.

Disable services, disable hardware not in use in bios. Disable start up programs. Turn the boot timeout to 0 in msconfig under Boot.

Mine's about 20 seconds from pressing the power button the login screen. Then probably another 5-7 seconds to log in. This is with a clean install and very few ThinkVantage tools running. Conversely, my R60e takes about seven seconds to boot to the log in screen. Then another two to three seconds to log in. Though the hardware is much older, it is usually more snappy than my X220.
