    Hey dudes and dudettes,

My x220 screen has suddenly gone dark after replacing the system board and I need some assistance troubleshooting/rectifying the issue. The screen was working fine before I replaced the board.

It's not completely blacked out, it is getting something, as I can see the text on the IPS LCD if I shine a bright flashlight onto the screen. I know it's not the GPU/integrated graphics as the VGA port works when I attach a monitor to it. I tried using the Function + Home keys to boost the brightness and I updated to the 1.40 BIOS, but neither of these attempts helped. One thing I have noticed is that when I power off the machine, the LCD gets this sort of very faint, thin, black-brown-dark green colored, almost invisible line across the middle of it and then it appears as if the liquid crystals in the display are being sucked up to the line.

From the research I have done, it looks like this issue could be caused by three different things:
    1. Bad or loose cables from the system board to the LCD
    2. A dead/dying LCD
    3. A blown fuse on the system board

Has anyone had a similar issue and resolved it? Is there anything I am missing that could be causing the problem? In the past I had a similar issue with a Dell Inspiron 8600 and that was a dead inverter, but I don't think this LCD has one.

My first twos steps when I get home today will be to re-open the laptop to check out the LCD and its cables and to check the dmesg/log outputs for anything interesting, as I am running FreeBSD on this machine. I will report the findings.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Unlikely the video cable. More likely the fuse or the panel.
