I just got my x220 recently, and used it only for 2-3 days. I didn't see this initially, but now no matter what driver I try, I see this problem...

Is it just something wrong with drivers? Or is something actually defective and I should call Lenovo for an RMA?

Try to pipe out the display to an external monitor to rule out motherboard/GPU vs display.

The problem does not appear if I am outputting the display to a monitor. Ok I have a defective display I assume....

Try doing a print screen. If it shows up, probably something wrong with drivers or GPU. If it doesn't, then it is your display.

this sort of colourisation usually is a problem with the Display. Also, your external LCD don't show up means it is most likely a display issue.

Do you have on site warranty? Lenovo would dispatch someone to your home/work to replace the part. Adunno if they will allow a customer to replace a FRU..

No, I just have the basic warranty. I always expected Lenovo to have great hardware... and I've never had to use my warranty for other laptops. Darnit.

Haha well I rarely buy any extended warranties, I'd say I generally know how to take care of my electronics. Can't help it when I receive a defective part though :(

for those whom can't take care of electronics they need the Protection warranty.

But the reason for buying warranties is about managing the risk of failure and the cost of fixing them. Even good systems can fail.
