Got my x220 today and it charges very slow. Heck it can't even reach 100 percent, stays at 99 for hours.
    Anyone experiencing something similar?

From my personal experience (my T61), the battery meter (the program) maybe unresponsive at times. At one time, my battery percentage remained at ~46% for 20 minutes. Another occurrence of the battery meter going haywire was that the percentage went from 99% to 95% (it remains at that percentage for hours) when I never plugged my power cord out or pulled it out from the outlet. But, right now it is at 100% (my battery has been through 26 cycles).

    Check you battery maintenance settings.
Stops the battery from over charging, also it will not charge until it drops below 96%. once you have the settings changed, reboot.

remember, it will not charge until it drops below 96%.

Also the last percent always takes longer to charge.

The power management sometimes prevents charging up to 100%, as excessive charging and recharging of the battery for small discharges leads to rapid battery degradation--in fact, I would suggest setting charge thresholds in Power Manager to stop charging at 95%, and start charging at maybe 60% or so depending on your needs.

Also, faster battery charging leads to faster battery cell degradation, so there's a tradeoff for rapid charging.

Any point in doing a full charge/ discharge when you first get the machine?

I posted several photos of my x220 in the x220 owner's thread maybe a week ago. Poke through my history and you should be able to find it.

david - No, don't do a full charge/discharge. Just use it. If you stay tethered, that's fine. If you let it discharge more frequently, that's fine too. Occasionally draining the battery fully isn't a big deal, but doing it all the time is a bad idea. Lenovo includes some battery management software that has an automatic setting to maximize the lifespan of the battery, it'll do things like slow down when charging an almost full battery, and even not fully charging it.

All ThinkPad 9-cell batteries stick out in the back. Use a search engine. Until then...
