Hey guys, I just received my x220 notebook (refurbished) from the lenovo outlet. I was very excited, until I felt the battery is loose after inserted into the laptop. It would short of jiggle like you can push it up and makes sound. Also, the monitor when closed (like closed onto the keyboard), it doesn't feel that its tightly closed. Are these common problems for x220? Or can I do something about it? Thanks!

The batteries, especially 9-cell have some movement in the X220s. It is a common problem that you can either fix with some tape or just ignore like most of u do.

As far as the screen feeling tightly closed...The screen only stays closed by a magnetic lid so in my opinion it never feels that secure, but I wouldn't worry about the durability.

Normal for X series, both my X201 and 200 with 9-cell have this and I just put tape on the battery.

the thing is my battery is 6 cell =/ and the screen doesn't even feel like its bounded by a magnetic thing. it's just loose that if i hold the laptop upside down it'll open slightly.

This is normal on both counts. The magnets are not strong enough for upside down use.

My 6 cell on my 220x t jiggles.

Both of these issues are completely normal.

With different batteries and laptops, the fit is slightly different, so some people may have some battery "jiggling" and others may not. I do on my T500 (9-cell) but not on my X120e (6-cell) or my dad's X220 (9-cell). There's certain manufacturing tolerances, and batteries may expand slightly when they are hot (ie: charging). If you're bothered, you can put a small shim between the battery and laptop (maybe a small piece of folded paper).

Yes, the X220 uses a pair of magnets to keep the lid closed. In many reviews, it was observed that the lid will open slightly when held upside down, as is normal for laptops with magnetic lid clasps.

I'm a tad concerned that I put a little too much torque on the battery when I hold on it.
