I am not using any RST software, maybe I could try re-loading new drivers, what version is the latest?

What does the optimizer do exactly?

I think it replaces the TRIM command, which is natively supported by the windows7 ahci driver.

Intel recommends a once a week run, for their line of ssds. I assume the crucial would be similar.

If you have win7, why manually run it?

Advanced Host Controller Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The AHCI driver built into windows 7, will be REPLACED with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology ones, if you install the RST package.

The native AHCI driver and the Intel RST driver are different.

Please see question 11, and note, it is no longer called Matrix Storage! The new name is Rapid Storage Technology... I know it was a confusing change of names.

NOTE: on further inspection, it appears that you will not be able to run the optimizer on your crucial SSD.

I guess this is the reason. Crucial drives have built in "garbage collection," the intel drives, I guess do not. Hence the need for the Intel optimizer, if you're not using the TRIM command.

Intel ssd's, from Gen 2 on have garbage collection and TRIM. And with an Intel ssd the toolbox is not vital to use, I don't.

    I use FF actually.

I am half tempted to reformat, it bothers me that I am only seeing 5-6 hours now :(.

    Run:
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ngen.exe executequeueditems
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\ngen.exe executequeueditems

    It might help.

Also run Process Hacker, let it idle, and look for ANYTHING taking up more than 1% CPU (TPFC does this with the numeric icon).

I ran those 2 lines, no change ... also let process hacker run, nothing above 1 CPU.

    Hi
Just got my X220 delivered with 9 cell battery and now need a wireless mouse (for cad work). I've narrowed it down to a thinkpad bluetooth mouse or a Targus wifi mouse. Which will drain the battery less quicker...bluetooth or wifi?

I would assume the USB wifi mouse would drain the battery less, though don't quote me on that.

But to be honest I doubt you would notice a difference at all.

The bluetooth on the x220 is connected through usb, I think. So, when you have the x220's bluetooth enabled, its like connecting an external usb device.

I've found the x220's bluetooth easily adds, at least, an extra watt of drain.
