    Hi

I seem to have cracked my palm rest on my x220 and was looking around for a replacement part

    from the lenovo website

    System service parts - ThinkPad X220, X220i

the one i require is 04W1411 (palm rest no fingerprint reader)

Does anyone know where i can actually buy one of these from in Australia?

The europe IBM spare parts site seems to have this but doesn't seem to ship to australia.

I called IBM spare parts in australia and they do not stock this FRU. The lady instead gave me a different part Number FRU 04W2183 and told me that it is 'equivalent' and should fit. I cannot seem to find any information on this FRU other than it is a 'PALM REST'.

Does anyone know where I can get more information on this?

    Thanks

What's the worst that can happen? You buy the part, it doesn't fit and you have to return it, perhaps eating the restocking fee.

131 426 option 2 i think, ask for the parts purchase.

Depending on how it is cracked, you maybe eligible for warranty replacement (provided you got the machine in oz, covered in oz if you need IWS).

I don't know how it is in his part of the world but in Canada, all parts purchases from IBM are final.

I guess another option is to get the customer service rep ID and name, and if thing does not work out disputed with a manager. Since the rep gave you the wrong info, I am sure they would let you return the item.
