Ok firstly doesnt anyone know when the x230s will actually be available to non-chinese persons???

Back to my main question, the source below says the x230s will weigh 1.28kg:

Lenovo ThinkPad X230s unveiled in China: a thinner and lighter 12-incher

However, the x201s 4 cell (1.1kg) and 6 cell (1.23kg) versions were lighter than this, according to this spec sheet:

    http://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas...ThinkPad/X-Series/X201 ThinkPad datasheet.pdf

which seems a little odd- so does anyone have any additional information?

Not really. X200s/201s were the lightest widescreen X series if I recall correctly, and a non-widescreen X40 was even lighter.

Marketing hype that includes buzzwords such as "light" from any manufacturer should be taken....ahm...lightly, in my opinion.
