I am planning to get a portable laptop and x240 is one of the contender. I found one at reasonable price with 128GB SSD and I was wondering if it's possible to add another HDD or SSD along with existing one.

    Kindly advice.

I don't know which drive the X240 has now, but the X240 can do a 7mm drive in the main bay, SSD or HDD, and a M.2 SSD.

Thanks for your answer. That would be a bit disappointing as I was hoping to add a large HDD for data and use SSD for OS and program like I have in my current T420 setup.

You certainly could do that with a M.2 SSD and the 1TB WD Blue. I have this drive in my Dell and it works well.

The x240 is an older model from begin 2015. The current model is the x250. That will be replaced by the x260 very soon. This only as an information. The x240 is a good device, no question...

The x240 and x250 are more or less the same (I have a x250). You can put a normal Notebook HDD or SSD into the x240. Also an additional M.2 slot should be available for 42mm M.2 modules. The only difficuilt part is opening the x240, that is tricky. Only removing the screws is not enough. The x240 also has plastic snap in noses and you must unlock each of this noses carefully. But at all if you are not clumsy this should not be a problem.
My x250 has a 1TB Samsung Pro SSD and works perfect with Windows 10.
