Hey gang, my father in law has an x300 and wants to use the laptop to output the signal to his TV. TV is a newer model Sony LCD.

Checking out the x300, it only seems to have a VGA port. Would he want to use some sort of VGA adapter to the TV? Or maybe one of the new USB ones?

For sound, does he just want a cable that hooks into the headphone jack on the x300 and then splits out to dual RCA to hook into the TV?

    Thanks!

Yes, which TV is it? Some TV limit resolution over VGA if it has a connector. RCA won't look that great because of the limited resolution.

if he wants to use the dvi input on the tv, then he would need the usb2dvi converter, but it has poor support for high resolution FHD videos, due to the limitation in the USB 2.0 ports.
