    hi all,
i have at43 which I love till I watch a movie. i am about to spring for a z60m that has a x300 with 64meg memory. Will that be a big difference from my t43 with integrated graphics. for some reason I thought most of the graphic cards came with 128 megs.
the screen is the 1200x800 ultrabright. is that a better screen for movies than my reg screen on my t43.
thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.
    Dave

The graphics card has little effect on DVD viewing. The screen quality is the most important thing.

Out of curiousity, why are you switching from a T43 to a Z60M? It seems like a futile upgrade. The only real difference will be the screen aspect ratio. It'd be a better idea to save money for the Z61M.

I thought the screen on the Z61m was pretty good, but not as good as the FlexView on the 15" T60, but that is obviously not widescreen.

my kid has an hp with a much nicer screen than my t43. I have no reason to upgrade except for watching movies when I travel and the screen is so much nicer. the hp has a glossy 15.4. there is a z6om at the IBM outlet on line with a superbright 1200x800 and the ATI 300 for only $1100 or so. i thought if the viewing was better, i would treat myself.
that being said there is a Vaio with nvidia 7400 for the same money at the sony outlet so I may go for that one.

Glossy screens are very good for viewing DVDs, but tend to be hard to use for extended useage for me anyway. They are particularily bad in well lit places like an office.
