My sibling is in the market for a X300 or X301 to replace the Sony Z she just got yesterday. She's already unimpressed by the screen. I'm going home tonight to do a comparison with my T400 and watch it pwn the Z.

Does anyone know if LG manufacturers the LED LCD on the X301??

If you go into device manager and select monitors, and then select hardware id, you should have a code, it will normal relate to a panel manufacturer!

the image below is just an example

I don't own a X301 , maybe an owner can give you more information, but sometimes manufactures will use panels from different manufactures in the same model and the quality can vary considerabley!!

The Sony Z screen is top notch and very impressive. I'm afraid only a properly calibrated LED panel might compare to it.

    k. These comments seem to be consistent with what I've heard about the Sony Z LCD. However, she's complaining that it's not as sharp/contrasty as her old Dell 700m! I'll have to go home to see exactly what she's talking about.

Does Sony utilize two different manufacturers for its Z LCD?

I'll be sure to post the manufacturer on her Z when I get home using Everest.

Sorry, but if you didn't like the screen on the Z, something is wrong with your eyes.

It is by far one of the (if not THE) best 13" LED screens available.

Wow, what a strange thread :)
