I recently order an x61s but cancel and ask for a refund because not only after having waited for more than like 3 weeks the darn package was reported lost. It seems that compusa has on sale the x40 for $579.99 and I wonder if is a good purchase. The good thing about the x40 is that i'm sure it'll run linux and openbsd with minimal problems but the machine is a bit dated. I'll mostly be using the machine to code in c/c++ and java, web browsing and watching videos on veoh and similar site. My budget is about $1500 USD so if you have any other brands in mind, please let me know. I'm mostly looking for an ultraportable with long battery life because i'll be using it mostly on the rode. I'm not looking for a desktop replacement...

Sure it'll "work" but you're buying outdated machinery at the get go. The battery that comes with it will have lost some lifetime as well.

I'd recommend just buying a x60 for a couple hundred more.

Again. It'll work fine for the stuff you're doing .. but with an X60 you'll be future proof for a couple more years.
