Will the DVD-drive from a T40 (MATA UJDA745) fit and work in an X6 ultrabase with an x61s?
Thanks

Which drive are you refering to?
Since most Thinkpads feature an extracteable optical drive (it's called an Ultrabay-that drive slot), you should in fact be able to extract your main optical drive.
In general, there are 3 types of Ultrabay drives:
The older versions were simply called "Ultrabay".
These should apply to any machine around the "20's& 30's"; Ex: A21, T21..
The next were called Ultrabay Slim; fitting most last generation IBM's.
These ones were simply slimmer and fitted newer machines up to the
T42...
The latest are still called Ultrabay slim; however they have an internal specification different from the previous ones-in order to house SATA 2 drives as well (hdd's)
Remember, once you connect whatever machine to the dock; the dock's internal modules are indiferent to the originating machine's. I.e: As long as you use the dock; it doesn't matter where the optical drive came from, as long as it fits the dock.
The X6's part # is 40Y8116 and it only supports Ultrabay Slim drives; the T40 also uses Ultrabay Slim drives; therefore you shouldn't have a problem.
