Alright so my x60 is coming. Ordered on the 18th, shipped on the 22nd. Is that a record for lenovo?

Anyways any idea how long it will take till it gets to my house. The thinkpad network card only took 2 days.

And first thing I'm going to do is a clean install. I'll make an image of the disk for the hell of it, but clean install is a must.

So anyone do a clean install with the x60? What drivers and programs should I download off of thinkpads site that I actually need or are very useful. Or does xp have no problem with all the hardware?

Congratulations on your purchase. Doesn't Lenovo provide shipment tracking via UPS?

This site has numerous threads about reinstalling Windows. A search should provide some answers. I have an X60s and didn't bother with a reinstall as there was virtually no bloatware to begin with. Also note that certain drivers or utility programs have to be installed in a particular sequence or they won't work properly. The Support & Downloads section on Lenovo's site offers complete documentation for your ThinkPad model.

It takes 3-4 days with UPS normal delivery. Mine was shipped on 12.19 and I got today on 12.22.06

Make sure you make the recovery disks before doing the disk wipe. Make sure you have all the drivers you will need, and remember you can also do a custom restore if you want to keep the restore partition and pre desktop area.

Congrats on the x60 also! I got a T60 but the X is so nice that I was tempted to get one of those too!

Ya well first thing I'll do is ghost the drive. But I'm defiantly doing a clean install because my main os is ubuntu.

So I need to install drivers in a certain way, could someone maybe link to some documentation on that?

NO!!! I'm having issues in shippment

Your package has experienced an exception.

SHIPPER REQUESTED UPS TO ACCEPT PACKAGE AFTER 1 DAY CUT-OFF TIME AND ACCEPTS 1 DAY DELAY IN TRANSIT TIME TO DESTINATION.

so is that just a 1 day delay?

That's not a problem. I got the same message when my notebook was shipped. By today (December 25) it should already be on the way.
