The x60s was released over a year ago. With the upcoming Santa Rosa platform, I was wondering if anyone knew if the x60s will be upgraded soon. Or if there is a similar x-series laptop in the pipeline.

If and when a new x-series laptop is released, would Lenovo continue to sell x60s for a short period of time? Or is the ridiculously low prices on the x60s on their website contingent on buying one soon.

I am looking to buy a Thinkpad by August and would prefer not to wait if there is nothing to wait for!

    Thanks.

I haven't heard or read any rumors about a new X series laptop yet, so there probably won't be one for a while.

The T61 rumor happened a couple months before it actually was officially announced. I assume the X series will do the same. Just keep your eyes and ears opened. ;- )

If there are any upcoming upgrades for the X60s, it's probably going to be the transition from LV Core Duo to LV Core 2 Duo. The next major upgrade will probably be transition to widescreen.

Lenovos current userbase seems to be quite fond of regular 4:3 screens and the competition among widescreens are sooo much greater so I wouldn't count on it.

I'd expect an Core2Duo x60s coming quite soon, but thats just a 'feeling' and I have nothing to back it up with. Wouldn't expect a big difference just minor changes and a core2duo.

There have been rumours of an core 2 duo x60t and the motherboard is probably the same in the x60s so would probably not be any work to incorporate it with the x60s.

And if you look at the pace the regular core duos were replaced with core 2 duos I wouldn't be surprised if the remaining core duos (LV) would phase out quite quickly.
