    x61 power adapter makes high-pitched sound

    Unless its so loud that is annoying, I wouldn't worry about it. The power supply is of the switching type, so it will inherently make some noise when it switches to convert the AC current int DC current.

    chill. i searched. this is a different problem. noise is not coming from the laptop but from the power adapter.
    in addition this apeears on the new x61 which just shipped a few days ago.

    hagi... i had the same problem with an x61s power adapter. i called tech support, and they are sending me a new one... let's hope taht fixes the problem

    it seems that they had this issue quite a lot before. they are sending me a new one in a couple of days.

    Received my T61 on 7/26/07, and I have the same LOUD high-pitched buzz coming from the AC adapter. Will ask tech support for a new one.

    If a new adapter doesn't fix then it might be your own power supply. Try simple things like reversing the prongs in the power outlet or try it in another outlet. Dirty power or interference from other appliances (even from dimmer switches) can do all sorts of weird things.

    i think the issue is more with the power supply, and not the power source. the noise was present at many different power sources.

    but either way, i'm using the replacement one that they sent me, and it works great.
