    Hi,

I have a complicated issue that I would like some help with.
I have seen other treads about almost the same issue, by mine has a "twist".

    My laptop:
    T8300(2.4GHz), 1GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel X3100, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Verizon WWAN, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Secure chip, X6 UltraBase+CDRW/DVDRW, Fingerprint reader, 8c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro

Laptop bought in the US by the company I work for but currently I live in Sweden(Europe) were I also use the laptop.
    It has a Verizon WWAN.

Verizon do not exists in Europe and I like to use it for a local carrier called Telia and I like to unlock the card.
I tried with dc-unlocker.com but it could not detect my device at all.

I have the antenna on the side of the screen, an simcard place so it should exist....

Of course I cannot signup for any service in the states as I do not live there to unlock it either.
When I check under ThinkVantage meny I can active the card without any problems..

    Please help me!!!!

    Thanks in advance,
    Rickard

Even if you were able to unlock your Verizon card, it is unlikely that it would do you any good in Sweden.

Verizon's mobile network is based on CDMA technology, so if your Verzion card only supports data over EV-DO or CDMA2000 (which is likely the case), you will not be able to use it with any operator in Sweden, since none of them provide EV-DO or CDMA2000 services.

You could've ordered it with AT&T 3G service, and you would've have been able to use it in Sweden. AT&T uses HSDPA.

Another option is to purchase that card, and install it yourself. If you search on here, you'll be able to find threads that talk about getting the card and install it yourself.

I am not absolutely sure, but believe that AT&T's HSDPA network operates on 850 and 1900 MHz, while Swedish/European HSDPA networks operate on 2100 MHz.

If the above is correct, then the AT&T WWAN module needs to support tri-band HSDPA in order to be useful for HSDPA in Sweden. Also, is not the AT&T WWAN module operator locked to AT&T?

It's true that AT&T operates on those two frequencies, but the device, I believe supports all three bands. Well, at least the ones that Dell uses (Novatel Wireless).

With regard to operator locked, isn't that just the same as Verizon or Sprint? You still have to unlock Verizon supplied card too, no?
