in terms of weight and battery time.

i know x200 is better in terms of speed, storage size..etc.

however, i heard that x200 is heavier and it only last for 8+ hrs when compared with x61 10 hrs

The x200 review has some pictures of the x61 next to a x200. It seems the x61 is a bit smaller; not sure about weight though.

I never heard the x61 having longer battery life than x200. Is that true? Are you referring to the x61s?

With a 9cell x200 vs 8cell x61, the x200 should last longer given the new centrino 2 platform with lower wattage cpus. The x61s however might beat the x200 or be close. I think it mainly comes down to the widescreen vs 4:3. The keyboard on the x200 is a fullsized one...definitely a plus. The x200 also has superior cooling with no hot palm rests. It just depends if the price difference is worth it for certain priorities or not.

This was, in my opinion, the biggest downfall of the X6x series and an improvement I'm definitely looking forward to on the X200s.

The screen on the X200 is also significantly brighter.

I have a x61s..typing on it right now. I got the machine 3 months ago before the announcement of the x200. Right when I found out they were shipping I bought a x200. Mine is scheduled to arrive to me tomorrow, so I can let you know my preferences. I went for the x200 because of improved speed, montevina platform, widescreen, display brightness, battery life and full size keyboard...these things motivated me to purchase one over my current x61s.

I never got around 12.5 with my x61s. This is with word processing tasks, and medium display. I would think medium display would give me around 8 hours...but ideally I only get 5-6.

While those numbers are the give ones by lenovo...they weren't really real world experiences until the last generation of laptops that has been rolling out. Why do you think everyone was excited about the x200 and t400 battery life :D.

    -_- get the x200
how much heavier can a x200 be compared to x61..a pound? no
also is the battery life difference of 8 hrs from x200 or 10hrs from x61 really that crucial? just turn down the brightness a notch or something if you want more battery life

that's with the extra battery in the ultrabay i believe. otherwise, it's somewhere around 8-9 hours with just the 8 cell.

Also something to consider: the x200 is brighter and users get about 9 hrs with the brightness up halfway (which is about where I use it). To have comparable brightness on an x61 might mean less battery life. Someone have any thoughts?

8 or 9 hours with like the lowest brightness, which is virtually unreadable to me. I guess I will find out more tomorrow. I am still contemplating whether I will keep the x200 or not. The widescreen aspect is what is making me lean towards the x200...and I know this is silly, but the bezel is making me want to keep my x61s. I guess I will see whether or not I can deal with it tomorrow morning!

I love the x200. The full size keyboard is a definite plus, there is no compression on the shift, enter, caps-lock, etc. Also the resolution and virtual workspace is better on the x200. I am very impressed by the battery life of the x200 (varies with settings and activity between 7 and 11 hours). Also, I know it's superficial but I like the red and blue accents on the trackpoint.

The bezel is not a big deal in person...or at least that is my opinion. I work in IT for the dorms at my school and no student has commented on the ugly bezel of my thinkpad...just comments about it being small and such ;). Plus they have fat clunky dells and HPs that fell horrible to type and use the trackpads on...
