I've finally decided to buy an x61s. There's a few models out there and I'd like the one with the fast hd, 2gb or ram, the extended battery, etc.

Unfortunately I can see that lenovo.co.uk do not sell the x61s (yet?). Any suggestions on what to do? Is there a good UK retailer carrying most of the options? Or should I get it from the US; in which case who would ship over to the uk? The prices I am seeing in the UK seem better than the ones in the UK and all that needs to be paid at delivery is 17.5% vat.

I also note that the lenovo us site does not allow shipping to the UK. :(

Try dabs.com they stock lenovo heavily.
I got my T61 from the US through a trusted ebay reseller, one of about two who shipped to the UK. got a £1600 machine for £800 + £100 import tax. Let me know if you want any more info...

cheritononline.co.uk seem to have a large range of x61s models. I ordered one (uk449ix) on the 18th of July, don't have it yet though.

The x61s laptops used to be on lenovo uk's website, but aren't any more; when they were, lenovo didn't sell them themselves, but gave a list of places, including cheriton online that did.

    Thanks.

Last time I checked Dabs had no x61s. Cheritonline seems to have a good stock.
It's a pity one cannot configure it like one can on lenovo.com but has to stick to the models.

Thanks for the ebay offer but this is for work so will have to go through normal stores.

The 449ix has 120GB but is it the 7200rpm?

I guess I'm going to ask someone in the US to receive it for me and fwd it. I can't find a way of choosing all the specs from any uk site.

no its 5400rpm, they are stock ones so if you look at the american lenovo site, the 120GB corresponds to the 120GB option on that site.

100GB is the largest 7200rpm they do.

If you get it from the US, be careful if you're getting WWAN - I'm not sure the hardware's compatabile.

Mine just turned up from cheriton online - this thing is tiny! :D my one disappointment with cheriton online would be that they didn't tell me it had been shipped.

Basically what I did with ebay US, found the exact spec I wanted on a new sealed machine (from a trusted seller), then got it shipped to the UK.
