Hi all,
I've got my x61s connected to an external monitor set to its native res of 1920x1200 60Hz. Picture quality is fine until I compare it to my PC which is connected to the same monitor at the same resolution and Hz. The text on the x61s just seems very slightly fuzzy.
My first thought was its because the x61s is using a vga cable whereas my PC is using dvi, but I've plugged the vga cable into my PC and the picture is just as sharp as dvi.
I've tried taking screenshots and pictures to illustrate the difference but they don't really show anything.
I'm already using the latest drivers so I'm all out of ideas. I think its just because of the better graphics card in my PC (ati x1950xtx).
As I said, it isn't bad and when working on the laptop I don't really notice but when I turn on my PC and flip the screen between the two, there is quite a difference.
Before I give up I thought I'd ask if anyone else has something to try?
Thanks.

Is ClearType enabled?

Yep, sorry forgot to mention that.

I have noticed the exact same problem with my X61. I have the latest driver from Intel (7.14.10.1461). There are areas that are clear, alternating with areas that are fuzzy. It is quite annoying.
My previous Asus laptop also connected to the same LCD monitor via VGA and never had this problem -
That is why I am waiting for X200 with a DisplayPort.

A new monitor that uses video over usb cable instead of VGA cable may be a solution. If you've never heard of this you should check out the review at the link below. Not a cheap solution, but cheaper than buying a new X200 notebook.

Personally I think this video over USB feature on a monitor is awesome. I hope it becomes more common. -
Another possible solution would be to buy an express card that has a DVI adapter on it.

I found how to fix this. if you experience the following issues, you'll benefit from the fix as well: If you move the mouse cursor to the extreme left, half of the cursor moves off the screen.
If that happens to you, then all you need to do is press the "Auto Adjust" button on the monitor and voila! everything is clear as it should be.
