    Hello

First, the background: I ordered a refurbished x61t online, and it it was all working fine. There was an issue with the battery, but I was able to take care of that.

I just got back from a week on vacation without my machine, and after using it for a few hours, I noticed when the hinge moves, the screen blacks out. Sometimes just the bottom, sometimes all of it. A moment later its fine again, but this worries me since I have no warranty from lenovo, and the company I bought it from was a HUGE hassle (hardly answering, and redirecting me the one time someone answered).

I know this is a hardware issue, maybe a loose or frayed cable. What's the best way to go about this? I can open it up and see if I need to, I have works with computer before without problem. Just, there is a lot happening in the hinge...

could be the connection wire, or it could be the LCD itself. Do you still have warranty on the machine?

I don't remember what the warranty was, but unless it was just 30 days, I still have it. But that doesn't say much. The battery was defective and wouldn't charge. After a week of calling multiple times per day, I bought a new battery elsewhere and filed a dispute with the credit card company.

I am pretty sure it is in the hinge and not the screen itself. When moving the machine, even just slight shaking it would flicker, but when I held the screen preventing the shaking from changing the tilt, it was perfectly fine.

then it could be a connection issue. It would still quite a bit to fix if you are buying the parts yourself.

I have been busy with my job, so I really didn't touch this computer for a few weeks, I just used my main computer.

Last week I decided to go and look for the problem myself. I carefully unscrewed everything, but didn't go as far as to disconnect the keyboard and pull out the mobo. Instead, I just pushed at the main cable, and made sure there was no obvious damage. After I put it all back together, it was problem free for few days. The problem came back, but at least I can say its what I thought.

I will probably take it to a tech guy I know and see if he can work his magic.

I know this thread is old, I just didn't want to leave it unresolved.
