Got my laptop today!! Ordered on the 26th, and posted ship date was 12/13, but it came a lot quicker than expected so I am a happy camper.

I did want to see if anyone had some advice on where the best place to buy xp pro would be. It came with vista home basic, and while I suppose I havent given vista a fair chance, I am a creature of habit and would like to swap out the os back to the xp pro I know and love. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys!

Keep in mind that academic copies of Windows/Office/ANY software are only legal to use if you are a student or university/school faculty or staff member.

If you don't fall into one of these categories, the best way to stay legal would be to just buy an OEM copy off of Newegg.

yea...or try amazon.com. Ebay might also have cheap copies for auction.

If you know any college/university students, their school usually offers XP Pro discs for about $10. Maybe you can give them the money so they get you one.
