I have my work laptop and i noticed that there are 68 processes running and I only have explorer running right now. Can anyone lend me a hand on how to take some of them off of there so my computer will run more efficiently?

    i have a T42 with 1.7 processor, 1.5 ram, and 80 gig hard drive

    thanks in advance.

    "Features"

Also, you can delete unwanted apps from Control Panel. Stop unnecessary start up programs w/msconfig.

The best way would be clean installing XP. It's a pain, but well worth it. Actually, it's not that tough if you have a driver disc ready. Other then that, go with bmwrob's advice. I think Lenvov's software takes up a good amount of processes and increases start-up time. I had about the same number of processes running on my HP 8510p before I clean installed. Now I have 34 including my anti-virus and anti-spyware programs providing active protection.
