can any1 tell me if this would be a wise idea ( concerning notebook compatability, cost etc) to put windows vista on a new r52 thinkpad?

if the transition would be smooth what costs can i be expected to pay for this?

    thanks!

Vista should run fine on it as long as you have at least 1GB of RAM.

ok thanks. i just didnt know if it would mess up any of the thinkvantage thingies (whatever they are) that comes special to thinkpads. wanted it to be perfect.

also, i realize this video card is prolly low-end ... would u say its better than onboard video tho? and would i be better off with windows home basic or can this handle premium?

It should still be better than onboard. All versions of Vista should work, Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate.

Also, definitely consider the Hot Ram Deals for the much needed RAM upgrade for Vista.

At least 1 Gb is needed.
2gb runs smooth so I'd recommend that.
