I'm thinking about getting the y400 in April or wait for the summer to get a new laptop which probably will be its successor.
Is there any info regarding Lenovo's next 14 inch gaming laptop?
*A friend will be in the US this April and I will probably be in the US in the summer, i'm from Israel and laptops are way overpriced.

I need more information before I advise you.

How much are you willing to spend?

What do you want out of your laptop?
It is for work? Gaming? Photo/Video Editing?

The Lenovo Y400 and Y500 are considered multimedia/gaming laptops. If you want the best gaming laptop for $1000 or less these are your best choices. However if you aren't necessarily interested in gaming then there are other options. Again, post more information and I'll be happy to help.

I'm willing to spend less than 1000$, within this budget I'll buy and mSATA SSD 120GB.
The laptop is mainly for gaming.
Max weight is 5.5 pounds and I prefer a 13.3-14 inch screen but would settle a 15.6 screen if weight is still less than 5.5 pounds.

In that case the y400 is certainly your best bet. While the y480 has a slighty more powerful graphics card out of the box (it's about 12% better) the y400 gives you the flexibility to upgrade to 650m SLI (over 40% better graphics) anytime in the future. The i7 3630QM both the y400 and y480 are plenty powerful enough to run any game now or in the next 5+ years.

Besides that your perferce comes down to how both devices look, as well as their build quality; which I know nothing about. Also of note however is that the y400 has a red backlit keyboard and the y480 does not.

After taxes (if applicable) a $750 y400 or y480 will cost about $800, you can pick up a 128GB Crucial mSATA from amazon.com for about $99. You can even double that to 256GB and still be right on budget.

Obviously I don't think waiting is worth it but, to each his own. Just make sure to weight your needs and options so you'll be happy with your purchase.

Thanx man, but unfortunately I was just informed that he (a friend) won't be able to get me a laptop so i'll have to wait for summertime.
