    Hi all,

My y410p screen suddenly stopped working. I turned the laptop on the other day and all i got was whats on the first picture, a bunch of white/black vertical lines. I tried reconnecting the LCD cable both from the screen end and the motherboard end, but still no luck, so I ordered this screen:

Unfortunately, its still not working, the screen lights up but shows nothing (see second picture). So i've gone ahead and ordered a LCD cable thinking that might fix the problem.

One thing to note though, and I've only been thinking this today (a bit late), is that my original screen resolution is 1600x900, I'm not sure what the resolution for the replacement screen is, so maybe its indeed a screen issue, just that i ordered the wrong resolution one?

Oh i forgot to mention, the laptop works perfectly fine with an external monitor/screen. And it doesnt seem to be a backlight issue as I can still control the brightness using the keyboard shortcut.

    Any help is appreciated,
    thanks

If the cables are all attached properly I can only assume that your new screen isn't receiving enough bandwidth from the cable. So as you said, it's most likely a resolution issue.

    thanks for your answer LanceAvion.

UPDATE: if anyone's interested, I've fixed my laptop. I ordered a second screen and it worked flawlessly. So the first screen i received was either the wrong resolution as we expected or just faulty.
