I have a new y410p that I'm mostly happy with, but there's an issue with scrolling on the touchpad. When I'm using two-finger touch to scroll up and down, if my two fingers come within 1-2 cm of the top or bottom edges of the touchpad, I lose control of the scrolling and it scrolls all the way to the top/bottom of the page I'm on. This always happens when my two fingers move anywhere near the top and bottom edges, no matter how much distance I've moved my fingers to get there. For example, if my two fingers make a small movement downwards and come within 1-2 cm of the edge of the pad, the page I'm on will scroll all the way up as long as my fingers are held there, near the top edge, even if my two fingers have stopped moving at all.

The problem persists even after I've upgraded the touchpad drivers.

Is this some sort of weird new feature? I can't seem to find a way to disable it. Or is this a faulty touchpad? If it is faulty, I may just return my laptop, but I'm pressed for time because I'll be leaving the country in two weeks... any advice?

It's not faulty, it's called endless scrolling. You can disable this in the driver.

Thanks for your reply. But there is no option for endless scrolling in this driver. There is an option for something called "edge motion" but disabling/enabling it doesn't affect this issue.

Assuming that the T440s and the y410p share the same (or at least similar) synaptics driver, the option EdgeMotion should just be right.
Maybe try de- and reinstall the driver.

I did try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but still the Edge Motion option has no effect. The default is for Edge Motion to be disabled, but I'm still experiencing it, even after enabling and disabling.
