So, I bought a HDD caddy off ebay, and it looks like I got the wrong one.
I bought a 12.7mm caddy and I'm using it right now. It fits ........... but not very well at all. I actually had to open the whole laptop (more than just the bottom cover!) in order to fit the thing into the port. It's a lot thicker than the optical bay that the laptop comes with, and had I known better at the time, I would have measured that optical drive that I have. (it's 9.5mm... duh)

tl;dr: Anyway, now I know that there are 9.5mm bays and 12.7mm bays, and the y510p definitely needs a 9.5mm caddy, so I've ordered a 9.5mm caddy and I'll let you guys know if anything goes wrong!

Luckily, these things are $10/each on ebay :D
Unfortunately, return shipping to Hong Kong is like $100 D:

How did your 9.5mm Hong Kong purchase turn out? I am also looking for ultrabay options for the y510p but notice that the bezel looks larger than the 9.5mm bays I see on ebay.

FWIW, the y510p's Ultrabay is 9.5mm, isn't the Ultrabay a standard size? I'd imagine it'd have to be to facilitate optical drive swapping.
