    hi folks:

my y580 was delivered yesterday and i love it! there seems to be one problem though: the illumination for the keyboard doesn't seem to work.

i tried the Fn + Space combination but my keyboard sadly stays dimmed.

i tried restoring with the onekey recovery function and even tried a fresh installation of windows 7 with manual installation of the lenovo drivers but my keyboard still fails to illuminate with Fn + Space.

i love the laptop but would prefer that everything be working as advertised. :(

    thoughts? i'd appreciate any advice!

I think you mean dark? (I.e not illuminated at all?)

Does your keyboard light up for a moment when you power on from shutdown?

I am afraid it sounds like a faulty LED assembly, or loose connection or something. Best to RMA it.

sorry, yes, it remains dark at all times. it does not appear to illuminate even briefly during power up.

sounds like the only option is going to be to send it lenovo. too bad because i really like everything else about the laptop. :(
